Scope of Services

Kanzen is a specialist tile cutting and fabrication company, with expertise in the precision cutting, edging, and fabrication of porcelain tiles, porcelain slabs, natural stone, and similar materials. Our services include, but are not limited to, custom cutting, laminations, mitred edges, mosaics, coping, cladding components, and other fabricated products.

Kanzen does not provide tile installation, tiling, or general construction services.

Where clients request the fabrication of countertops, vanities, or other custom fabricated products requiring installation, installation services may be arranged on a project-by-project basis. Any such installation will be quoted separately or specifically included in the project quotation where applicable.

Collection and Delivery of Materials

Unless expressly agreed in writing, Kanzen does not collect materials from suppliers or deliver completed products to clients or third parties. The collection of materials and the delivery of completed orders remain the client’s responsibility.

Kanzen has collection and delivery arrangements with selected suppliers in Paarden Eiland. Where such arrangements are in place, Kanzen can collect material from the supplier’s warehouse and return the completed product to the same warehouse on the client’s behalf.

Clients are encouraged to confirm with their preferred supplier whether such an arrangement exists before placing an order. Where no arrangement is in place, or where collection and delivery have not been specifically agreed with Kanzen, the client will be responsible for arranging the transport of materials to and from our factory.

Quotation Acceptance and Client Responsibility

Acceptance of a quotation constitutes confirmation by the client that all information contained therein, including but not limited to quantities, measurements, dimensions, material specifications, finishes, edge details, cut-outs, drawings, and pricing, has been reviewed and is correct.

It is the client’s responsibility to carefully verify all information before accepting the quotation. Kanzen will manufacture and fabricate strictly in accordance with the accepted quotation and any approved drawings or specifications.

Kanzen accepts no responsibility or liability for errors, omissions, or incorrect information contained in an accepted quotation where such information was supplied by, approved by, or not corrected by the client prior to fabrication. Any changes requested after acceptance may be subject to additional costs, material replacement, and revised lead times.

Samples, Drawings and Client Approval

Kanzen may provide photographs, drawings, digital renderings, physical samples, or other reference material to assist clients in visualising the expected appearance, dimensions, and finish of the final product. These are provided for illustrative purposes only and may vary from the completed product due to the natural characteristics of the material, manufacturing processes, lighting conditions, screen displays, and other inherent variations.

It is the client’s responsibility to carefully review and verify all quotations, measurements, dimensions, drawings, layouts, specifications, material selections, edge details, finishes, cut-outs, and any other information relating to the project before approving fabrication.

Approval of a quotation, drawing, sample, or fabrication instruction constitutes the client’s confirmation that all information is accurate, complete, and acceptable. Kanzen will manufacture the product strictly in accordance with the approved documentation.

Kanzen accepts no responsibility or liability for errors, omissions, or incorrect fabrication resulting from inaccurate, incomplete, or unapproved information supplied by, or accepted by, the client. Any changes requested after fabrication has commenced may result in additional charges, replacement material costs, and revised lead times.

Measurement of pool and other coping areas

Kanzen understands the complexity involved in accurately measuring swimming pools, staircases, coping areas, and other irregular shapes. To ensure accuracy, we offer an on-site measuring service for these applications.

Measurements supplied by the client are accepted at the client’s own risk. Kanzen accepts no responsibility or liability for any errors, omissions, or resulting costs arising from measurements provided by the client or any third party.

Our on-site measuring service is available at an additional cost, which will be quoted based on the size, complexity, and location of the project.

Lead Times

Any lead times provided by Kanzen are estimates only and are supplied as a guideline based on our production schedule at the time of quoting or order confirmation. Lead times are subject to change due to factors including, but not limited to, production workload, material availability, equipment breakdowns, and other unforeseen circumstances.

While every effort will be made to complete orders within the estimated lead time, Kanzen does not guarantee completion dates and accepts no liability for any losses, damages, costs, penalties, or project delays arising from changes to estimated lead times. It remains the client’s responsibility to allow sufficient time within their project programme for fabrication and installation.

Where no lead time has been specified or requested, clients should allow an average fabrication period of 10 (Ten) working days from the date that all required materials, approved drawings, specifications, and any applicable deposits have been received.

Delays Beyond our Control

Kanzen is committed to providing the highest level of service and will make every reasonable effort to complete projects within the estimated lead times provided.

However, due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to load shedding, power outages, equipment failures, supplier delays, transportation disruptions, strikes, labour shortages, extreme weather, and other unforeseen events, Kanzen cannot guarantee completion or delivery dates.

Where possible, Kanzen will make every reasonable effort to minimise delays, including working overtime, weekends, or implementing alternative production arrangements. However, Kanzen shall not be held liable for any losses, damages, penalties, project delays, or consequential costs arising from delays caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

Material Breakage & Client Supplied Material

Due to the nature of the materials we work with, including porcelain, natural stone, marble, granite, quartz and similar products, breakages may occur during the fabrication process despite the utmost care being taken.

Clients are required to supply an additional 10% of material for each project to allow for reasonable breakage, cutting waste, and manufacturing requirements. Failure to provide sufficient additional material may result in project delays should replacement material need to be sourced.

Kanzen accepts responsibility only for material breakages that are directly caused by our negligence or accidental damage during handling or fabrication.

Kanzen cannot accept responsibility for breakages that occur during the fabrication process as a result of inherent material defects, internal stresses, hidden fractures, manufacturing faults, or any pre-existing damage that is not visible prior to processing.

All cut-outs (including, but not limited to, sink, basin, hob, tap, and electrical outlet cut-outs) inherently increase the risk of stress fractures and material failure. The client acknowledges these risks, and Kanzen accepts no liability for any cracks, fractures, or breakages associated with such cut-outs or resulting from the natural characteristics of the material.

By supplying material for fabrication, the client acknowledges and accepts these inherent risks.

Storage of material

Completed materials must be collected within 5 (five) working days of written notification that the order is ready for collection.

Kanzen reserves the right to charge a storage fee for any materials not collected within this period. Storage charges will be calculated according to the amount of factory space occupied, including the number of pallets or the size of the materials being stored.

Materials will be stored for a maximum of 60 (sixty) calendar days from the date of written notification requesting collection.

Should the materials remain uncollected after the 60-day period, they will be deemed abandoned. Kanzen reserves the right to dispose of, recycle, or otherwise deal with the materials at its sole discretion, and the client will remain liable for any outstanding amounts due, including applicable storage charges.

Payment Terms

Unless the client has an approved credit facility with Kanzen, full payment must be received and cleared prior to the collection or delivery of any materials.

Kanzen currently accepts payment by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and cash only. Materials will not be released until payment has been received in full.

Accounts not settled within 60 (sixty) days of the invoice date will be considered to be in default. Kanzen reserves the right to refer the outstanding account to its legal representatives or a debt collection agency for recovery. The client shall be liable for all reasonable legal, collection, tracing, and administrative costs incurred in recovering the outstanding debt, where permitted by law.

Should payment remain outstanding for 90 (ninety) days after written notification that the completed materials are ready for collection, Kanzen reserves the right, after providing reasonable written notice to the client, to sell, dispose of, or otherwise realise the value of the completed materials in order to recover the outstanding debt. Any proceeds received will first be applied to outstanding invoices, storage charges, legal costs, and any other amounts due to Kanzen. The client will remain liable for any shortfall should the proceeds be insufficient to settle the outstanding balance in full.
